Hi there! I'm Susan (she/her), I'm of Afghan and Syrian heritage, and living with multiple identities- Muslim, Arab, Middle-Eastern, Canadian, someone with an invisible disability, student, and survivor- has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of life and the challenges of burnout. I'm committed to social justice and addressing issues of oppression, colonialism, and injustice worldwide.
A huge part of my advocacy is my support for the Pro-Palestinian cause. I strongly believe in the right of the Palestinian people to live in freedom and dignity, free from occupation and oppression. This commitment drives my efforts to raise awareness, engage in meaningful dialogue, and support initiatives that work toward a peaceful and just resolution. I see this as an integral part of my broader mission to end white colonialism and imperialism. I am also strongly pro-immigration, believing in the immense value that diverse communities bring to our world.
My background includes supporting families affected by domestic violence and working with autistic children and youth. I hope to work alongside individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including those experiencing regular burnout at work, survivors of domestic violence, individuals who are neurodivergent, people dealing with intergenerational trauma, those facing health conflicts, and individuals experiencing oppression.
In my counselling work, I approach each session with curiosity and respect, recognizing that my clients are the experts in their own lives. I strive to create a comfortable, open space where clients can be themselves and welcome feedback to ensure our work together is effective and meaningful. My practice draws from somatic experiencing and narrative therapy, focusing on a client-centered approach that prioritizes the unique needs and goals of each person, helping them lead their own healing process.
