As my university trauma studies professor once told me - “True meaningful connection with another person can feel absolutely terrifying”. So why should therapy feel any different? Allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and honest with another human being in front of us in hopes that they see us for something more than our growing edges - that can be absolutely terrifying. That is human. I say this not only as a therapist but as someone who regularly goes to therapy themselves!
My approach to therapy is deeply relational and collaborative. My hope is to support you in creating ease and transformation with the issues that you are navigating. I show up with compassion, authenticity, humor, and lots of curiosity in hopes that all parts of you feel welcome in the room. I continually work to create a space that is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, sex-work allied, and sex-positive as possible.
My work with individuals focuses on sexuality, kink, sex, and trauma. My therapeutic lens is informed by Internal Family Systems/Parts work, Somatic Therapy, and Attachment Science. I also support couples on various relational issues such as differences in sex drive, communication issues, navigating non-monogamy, practicing kink, rupture & repair, and infidelity. When supporting couples I utilize the collective wisdom of Emotionally Focused Therapy, Feminist Theory, and the Developmental Model. Sexual issues are often deeply intertwined with other issues, and my hope is to support you in untangling all of that and creating meaningful change both in your sexuality and in other parts of your life.
Outside of the counseling space I find joy in training Jiu-jitsu, exploring nature, cooking up something ridiculous, vibing to some R&B, and spending time with my friends! My identities play a strong role in how I interact with the world around me - I am queer, non-binary, polyamorous, and of South Indian heritage.
I acknowledge that my work and residence takes place on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-waututh) Nations.
