Bio

Steph is a cisgender, queer, Latinx, uninvited settler living on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, which includes the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Steph sees counselling as an opportunity to walk beside folx, co-creating safety and dignity as they navigate their healing journeys and call in their own wisdom. She believes her role is one of facilitating and collaborating, and that each client brings their own expertise, gifts, and the seeds for resilience. She has experience working alongside QTIBIPoC and politicized folx using a trauma-informed, social justice-based, and integrative approach.

Steph’s offerings are informed by intersectional feminism and rooted in the belief that this work can be deeply liberatory. She wants to affirm folx as they dream of new possibilities and collect the tools to enact the changes they seek. She is also passionate about anti-oppressive work and the ways counselling and social justice fuel and informs each other. Both in her counselling work and in her personal life, Steph aims to centre justice and equity and holds space for individual and community healing. She also recognizes that doing so requires ongoing learning, unlearning, and the ability to stand back and listen. She hopes to do this together with her clients.

In her spare time, she enjoys being in the ocean, making playlists for all her moods, and spending time in her East Van neighborhood. These days you can usually find her in a sunny spot reading a book and nuzzling the neighborhood cat. She is looking forward to connecting with you!
