Bio
Evelyn Taylor (they/she) supports couples/relationships, adults, and teens using practical, evidence-based techniques, authentic connection, and a touch of humour. She primarily works with people that have concerns with relationships, sex and sexuality, gender, identity, body image, self-esteem, and life changes.
For individuals, Evelyn supports you to work through life complexities and untangle narratives you have internalized, perhaps unconsciously, that impacts how you show up in the world. For couples & relationships, she supports you to look deeper into reactions and arguments to find what you are really longing for: connection, appreciation, safety.
Ev's approach is direct and caring. Their goal is for the process to feel curious, hopeful, and playful. She thrives working with folks navigating identity, shame, sex, neurodiversity, trauma, attachment, and relationships (intimacy, desire, communication, polyamory/CNM, kink).
She weaves in cognitive and somatic approaches for an embodied experience, drawing primarily from trainings in EFT and Gottman. They are passionate about providing affirming care for BDSM & kink, non-monogamy, and queer & trans folks.
Evelyn believes you deserve to feel secure in your emotions, pleasure, and body. Their guiding principles are: slow is fast; one size fits one; co-create safety. In your chats, Ev wants you to feel completely heard and supported. They value this most of all because it means you can access the curiosity needed to find clarity, heal, communicate, and move forward. Ev invites you to work together so you can experience lasting connection to yourself and others.
Non-Counselling Services:
In addition to counselling, Ev offers Hormone Readiness Assessments as well as facilitated relationship check-ins (R.A.D.A.R.S.). Check-ins are collaborative and structured sessions for partners to communicate honestly and vulnerably. You will learn the to do check-ins on your own as an important part of a relationship that fosters mutual appreciation and accountability. Check-ins can be booked as standalone sessions.
More about Evelyn:
Evelyn is a queer, non-binary, poly, non-disabled, white settler on the unceded territories of the xwməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Evelyn grew up as a “weird kid” and a tomboy. Her lived experiences inform their practice, such as experiencing the transformation of hurt into a resource for strength, and a passion for identity exploration. Prior to counselling, they spent over 8 years working in mental health in research, non-profit, and trans & youth-specific crisis-counselling settings. Outside the therapy room, her cup is filled by time near the ocean, film, great coffee, camping, and Mario Kart.
Image Description: Evelyn is centered in the photo smiling. They have short, brown, straight hair that is parted to the side. They are wearing glasses and a collared buttoned up green shirt. They are standing in front of the ocean with blue cloudy sunlit skies.
