Souzan is an Iranian-Canadian woman living and working on the unceded territories of the sllwta (Tsleil-Waututh), swxww7mesh (Squamish), and xwmkwy (Musqueam) Nations. She holds a Masters of Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University. Souzan's style of counselling is welcoming, inquisitive, and accepting. She likes to explore how our past experiences shape how we navigate through life, and how our narratives shape our understanding of ourselves. Souzan is passionate about empowering others with the tools and understanding to be whole and at peace with themselves. Souzan has lived experience with intergenerational & intercultural trauma, chronic pain/illness, neurodivergence, and mental illness, and burnout. Her values are built through anti-oppressive, socially just, and trauma informed practices. Souzan is dedicated to dismantling mental health biases, particularly for immigrants and racialized families.
Her previous experience has been working full time as a peer worker providing recovery-oriented appointments to a diverse group of participants developing/practicing strategies and skills for goal setting, navigating services, and self-advocacy. In addition to this, she worked intensively within the arts community both as an instructor as well as providing leadership and consultation for organizations to rebuild their practice from a socially just and culturally safe space.
Souzan speaks English & conversational Farsi, and offers therapy in both languages.
In her personal time, she enjoys making art, dancing, martial arts, binging k-dramas, and wandering through the woods with other people’s dogs.
