Individuals:

Gurvaan works with individuals, ages 6 and older, navigating various concerns, such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, issues of identity, and impacts of trauma.

In counselling, Gurvaan uses an integrative approach integrating a variety of approaches to meet the needs of the individual(s) they are supporting, while being mindful of structural barriers.

What to expect in counselling:

  • Prioritization of autonomy, safety, and consent

  • A space that is non-judgmental, which offers empathy and validation

  • An intersectional feminist, anti-oppressive, and trauma-informed perspective

Gurvaan (she/they) is a queer Punjabi woman of colour who grew up in the Metro Vancouver area. As a counsellor, her identities impact her work, and emphasize the importance of using an intersectional lens in counselling. She is a registered clinical counsellor offering counselling services on the stolen lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) nations.

Gurvaan has a background in supporting survivors of gender-based violence, including sexualized violence and domestic violence. They also have a background in supporting individuals experiencing immense crisis and navigating suicidality. When working in both fields, she often had to support individuals navigating oppressive systems.

Outside of the counselling space, Gurvaan is a creative baker that enjoys experimenting with flavors and recipes. She also enjoys trying new cafes, spending time with her sibling’s dog, crocheting, and spending time outdoors.
