My approach:

My work as a therapist is grounded in curiosity, connection, and the belief that people make sense.

Most of us spend our lives absorbing stories about who we are supposed to be. Some of those stories help us grow. Others leave us feeling like we are too much, not enough, broken, failing, or somehow getting life wrong. Over time, those stories can become so familiar that they start to feel like facts.

I love helping people get curious about those stories.

Whether you're navigating anxiety, OCD, sex and relationship challenges, body image concerns, chronic illness, grief, or a season of life that feels uncertain or overwhelming, my hope is to offer a space where all parts of you are welcome - not just the polished parts, but the messy, contradictory, exhausted, hopeful, grieving, angry, funny, and figuring-it-out parts too. They all get a seat at the table!

I don't believe therapy is about becoming a different person. More often, I think it's about finding your way back to yourself.

What therapy with me might look like:

I am endlessly interested in how we make meaning of our lives. The ways we understand ourselves shape what feels possible, what feels hopeless, what we notice, and what we miss. Therapy can offer space to examine those meanings together, with curiosity rather than judgment.

My approach is primarily informed by Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), with additional influences from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other relational approaches. In practice, this means I care both about understanding the stories that shape your life and helping you build practical tools for navigating difficult emotions, relationships, and experiences.

I tend to ask a lot of questions. Not because I have hidden answers tucked away somewhere, but because I genuinely find people fascinating. I want to understand how your world works, what matters to you, and what has helped you survive the things you've survived.

Throughout our work together, you can expect warmth, honesty, collaboration, occasional laughter, and lots of space for the messy, contradictory, and deeply human parts of being alive. I work from a queer-affirming, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction lens, and I believe that healing happens in relationship - not through being fixed, but through being understood.

A little about me:

I am a queer, neurodivergent, chronically ill, small-fat, cisgender white woman living on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

My lived experience navigating OCD, long-term eating disorder recovery, Type 1 diabetes, and endometriosis has deeply shaped how I understand care, dignity, and the importance of being treated as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms.

Outside of counselling, you'll usually find me making music, climbing things, building community through my work with children and families, or alternating between outdoor adventures and an elaborate nest of pillows, books, videogames, and comfort shows.

I believe healing is not only about tending to pain. It is also about making room for joy, connection, creativity, wonder, and the people who remind us that we don't have to do everything alone.

Image Description: Emma, who has blonde hair, smiles at the camera while sitting outdoors. She wears round, gold-framed glasses, a white top layered with a light blue and white striped short-sleeve button-up shirt, and jeans. She wears a septum piercing, small hoop earrings, and a necklace. Tattoos are visible on their inner forearm. In the background, there is a wooden fence, green foliage, and blue skies visible.
