Ethics in anti-oppressive counselling: Promising practices

Rooted in the counselling profession but relevant to all helping roles, this document explores what it means to offer care in oppressive systems while still striving for liberation. Drawing on abolitionist thought and community-driven models of support, it provides practitioners with a grounding framework for navigating moral distress, resisting carceral logics, and imagining more just, sustainable ways of caring for one another.

We are thrilled to share our findings from our work. Please click on the image below to get access to the full document!

A PNG image featuring the first page of our Ethics in anti-oppressive practice: Promising practices document which focuses on anti-oppressive, anti-carceral counselling practice. The page includes black text on an oatmeal colour background. The background includes shapes and colors, such as circles and blobs, and lavender, burnt orange, white, light grey, and yellow ochre. The text is centered and clearly readable, standing out against the backdrop. The overall aesthetic is inviting and reflective, evoking themes of care, community, and transformative practice.
