Ljudmila is a queer, cis, white, able-bodied woman born in the former Yugoslavia and raised on the unceded and occupied lands of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Ljudmila’s work with individuals focuses largely on survivors of sexualized and gender-based violence, as well as more broadly working with reclamation of body, self, and identity after trauma of displacement and/or collective, intergenerational, or institutional trauma (such as religious or medical trauma).

Ljudmila also works with the complexities of identity, including sexual and gender identity, cultural, ethnic, and/or religious identity - particularly in working to create cohesive identity when facets of identity may feel at odds or identity may feel fragmented (e.g. the intersection of sexuality and religion or culture). She is also passionate about supporting the unlearning of harmful aspects of masculinity. She provides relationship counselling with folks of various relationship structures navigating various relational issues, including trauma-impacted couples and folks navigating non-monogamy.

Ljudmila uses an integrative approach shaped by an anti-oppressive, feminist, and relational-cultural framework. She uses elements of narrative therapy, feminist therapy, parts work, EFT, attachment theory, and somatic approaches - as well as drawing on any number of other modalities to meet clients where they're at. She believes that healing is expansive and strives to honour and integrate the ways that clients have already been surviving and healing, be that through community, art, activism, or ancestral practices.

Ljudmila aims to build a space that is collaborative and honours the client as an expert in their own life. While our therapeutic space is one that can gently hold trauma, pain, and grief, Ljudmila also believes in a more expansive approach that creates space for your whole self, including joy, humour, pleasure, rest, and playfulness.

Outside of her counselling practice, Ljudmila does organizing work for queer Balkan people in diaspora. She believes in rooting in joy, which for her means reading, building community, baking and cooking, spending time in nature, and watching movies with her cats, Wayne and Garth.
