Shana (they/she) is a queer, neurodivergent, BIPOC settler who was born and raised on stolen, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
Shana has a background working with children, youth, and young adults who face mental health challenges. Their work in the nonprofit and public health system includes working with those facing crises, houselessness, substance use, sex work, employment or educational challenges, trauma, and neurodivergence.
Guided by anti-oppression, intersectional feminism, disability justice, harm reduction, and anti-colonialism, Shana continues learning to dismantle and disrupt systems and name them and their impact in the therapeutic space. Shana continues learning to be a better advocate for safe spaces both in and outside of the counselling room. You can expect Shana to be compassionate, inviting, easygoing, and nonjudgmental. She hopes to co-create safe spaces for exploration and processing, whatever that may look like to you.
Shana brings experiences in navigating the healthcare system, academia, relationships, chronic illness, racism, queerphobia, neurodivergence, and religion-based trauma. They are grateful for the opportunity to work with, listen, and learn alongside others who may share these intersections. With a minor in critical studies in sexuality, she is also kink/BDSM affirming and ethical non-monogamy/poly friendly!
In their own time, you can find Shana dancing, baking, trying new foods, or in nature. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family (including two black cats!)
