Hi there! I’m Michelle (she/her).

I’m a queer, neurodivergent, chronically ill student counsellor and eldest daughter of Korean immigrants. I came to this work through navigating caregiving, cultural dissonance, and family history shaped by war, colonialism, and migration. Growing up in a predominantly white, queerphobic suburb of BC, I learned how to hold tension, ask hard questions, and move through systems not built for me. My decade of work with survivors of sexual violence and folks navigating trauma, substance use, poverty, and systemic harm taught me to sit with layered grief, honour survival strategies, and recognize how often people are dismissed or asked to prove their pain.

In session, I bring curiosity, care, and steady presence. Whether you arrive with questions, ambivalence, or strong emotions, I aim to offer a space where you don’t have to mask or shrink, and where you can reconnect with parts of yourself that have felt lost, silenced, or shamed. At the core of my work is a commitment to co-creating culturally aware spaces that honour complexity, support meaning-making, and move toward connection, authenticity, and moments of delight.

My practice is trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and rooted in intersectional feminism and harm reduction. I integrate narrative, somatic, and emotion-focused approaches, and care about how cultural, structural, and historical forces shape our stories and coping. I welcome sex work, kink, non-traditional relationships, and 2SLGBTQ+ identities. I also value feedback and am committed to ongoing unlearning.

Some areas I support clients with include:

  • Sexual and gender-based violence

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Identity, shame, and self-compassion

  • Intergenerational and relational trauma

  • Neurodivergence

  • Chronic pain and nervous system regulation

  • Boundaries within collectivist contexts

  • Navigating life transitions, relationships, and chosen family

Outside of counselling, my INFP forest-gremlin soul finds joy in green spaces, cooking with loved ones, tending to my balcony garden (and lemon tree Lenny), and snuggling with my two mini poodles.

I am fully vaccinated, mask in public spaces, and am happy to wear a mask during in-person sessions.
