Ivan Leonce, RSW

Bio

I support those navigating the challenges of living in a world not designed with them in mind. If you are a person of colour, queer or trans, an immigrant or the child of one, neurodivergent — or all of the above — I know that your experiences of mental and emotional health are often inseparable from these realities. I also know that any effective therapy must hold space for that, without letting it define the fullness of your story. This understanding is at the heart of how I work.

My approach to counselling is shaped by both my professional training in trauma-informed, decolonial and evidence-based therapy, as well as my lived and cultural experiences as a Black queer immigrant of mixed Afro-Caribbean, Tamil and Kalinago ancestry. Clients describe my style as warm, down-to-earth, direct and insightful.

While I work with a range of concerns, I am particularly experienced supporting clients who describe issues of chronic stress or worry, difficulty expressing or regulating emotions, communicating effectively in relationships, lack of focus, or feeling overwhelmed and uncertain when making important decisions.
