Bio
My approach to counselling is rooted in curiosity, humility, and an appreciation for the complex interplay between a person and their environment. I employ a blend of narrative, systemic, somatic, and social cognitive theories to support clients in feeling grounded in their bodies and their agency.
I work primarily with members of the queer and trans communities, and with individuals navigating polyamorous relationships, kink relationships, and power dynamics. I also work with individuals navigating family relationships, communication, boundaries, body shame, and substance use.
Everyone comes to counselling with a lifetime’s worth of experiences, values, fears and hopes. In our work together I want to be able to hold space for all of these realities and explore where those internal narratives originate and how they impact life in the present.
You can expect me to be open, warm, and a safe place for you to land. Co-creating safety is the most important part of our work together, and I want you to feel safe and supported to bring whatever you want to discuss into the room with us. I highly value providing safe, supportive, and affirming care for queer, trans, non-monogamous, kink, and sex work communities.
While it isn’t my place to compel you to change, I do want to be able to support you in any changes that you are hoping to make. I want to co-create an environment of curiosity, care, and humour where you are able to explore and articulate your wants and needs for yourself, and work with you to create the change that will support you in meeting them.
More about me:
I am a queer, transmasc nonbinary, polyamorous, and neurodiverse white settler on the unceded territories of the Lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Xʷsepsəm/Esquimalt) and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples. I am originally from Anemki Wequedong, the historical Anishinaabe lands currently called Thunder Bay. I have a range of lived experience in widely different social contexts. The majority of my life was spent socialized as a cis/het woman, and the realities of a later-in life coming into queerness has provided me with a unique appreciation for the disparate feelings that come with foundational changes in identity and privilege. When not at work, I can be found in a book, gardening, restoring furniture, renovating things, and playing Stardew Valley.
